Sherry discovered
her love of cooking at an early age during the many hours she
spent in the kitchen with her grandmother. In high school,Sherry
found her second passion, teaching when she started teaching
dance classes. She continued teaching while attending college.
After graduating with a degree in psychology and graphic design
she entered the corporate world, designing logos, web sites and
product packaging. She moved from designing and developing web
sites to project management.
However, at GE Capital she rediscovered her love of teaching and
began creating and teaching seminars on a variety of topics from
basic html and internet research, to web site usability. Sherry
enjoyed the corporate world but wanted a more creative
outlet and something that would allow her to explore her passion
for food.
Sherry enrolled at the Cook Street School of Fine Cooking. Cook
Street’s intensive culinary program is designed for career
changing professionals and includes an integrated wine
curriculum. Sherry is classically trained in French and Italian
cooking techniques and a certified sommelier. After graduating
from culinary school Sherry honed her culinary skills in Europe
by studying traditional French techniques in Provence with Chef
René Bérard. Visits to local markets, wineries and cheese
dairies expanded her knowledge of the culinary riches of
Provence.
From there, Sherry studied at the Italian Culinary Institute for
Foreigners in Asti, Italy. It was there that she experienced the
Italian passion for food and wine first hand, visiting vineyards
to learn about wine making, hunting for truffles, and making
gnoocci, agnolotti and tortellini by hand.
Today Sherry combines her passion for food and teaching and
creates engaging, informative and fun culinary classes,
teambuilding seminars and culinary events. Her classes inform as
well as entertain... enrich as well as amuse. Her innovative
menus are hand-crafted using only the freshest and finest
quality ingredients available, many from local farms and artisan
producers throughout Connecticut and New York. If you are
looking for a delicious way to spend a special evening contact
Sherry at A Culinary Experience.
